Fucking, Austria

Pronounced "Fooking", it's a village in Upper Austria, one of the 9 states of Austria.

The village's been around since 1070. Fucking, a swear word in English, means "Focko's people". The village is named after a man called Focko.

The Fucking village (pun intended) is famous for their street signs with the village's name on it. It attracts many tourists and is commonly stolen. A more secured road sign was installed in 2005, but the problem remains.

Ok. Indeed. That's a pretty cool place.

1. of all the second sign has a second sign at the bottom,. at this sign there is written "Bitte nicht so schnell" and means merged with the "f..."-sign: "Please don't f... so fast... :)

2. There are cool places in Southern Germany (Bavaria at the border of Upper Austria): First one is called
"Kissing"

and
"Petting"

In Geraldton in Western Australia an Austrian family brought their aging mother out for a holiday. She entered the local Retra-Vision store and was asking for a refrigerator. Her language barrier was that she didn't understand a word of English which saw he locked up at the local police station for having sworn at the attendants? I believe she used the term "Fooking"? She was 86 years old!
