Capsule Inn

What happens when you have lots of people and not enough space? They put tourists in a 2x1 meter box.

Located in Osaka, Japan, the Capsule Inn is a hotel with extremely small rooms. Actually, they are not rooms; they are just a fiberglass box with a TV.

Bathrooms are in public area shared with all the other guests, and you're not supposed to eat in your room.

Capsule Inn is the first of its kind. Since opened in 1979, many tried to copy the concept in European countries and the U.S. with little success. I wonder why!

How do they get fresh air in there? How do you not die of suffocation? Not for the claustrophobic among us i see!

Good thing there's a TV. Man, nothing worse than boredom in a small space.

Is there no curtain? What's the deal -- no privacy? How are you going to pick your nose?

i don't think i can stay in one of those, i am not claustrophobic but it's looks like an animal cage for overly aggressive animals.

I wonder if this is how they came up with the Seinfeld episode when Kramer has his Japanese guests sleep in his giant dresser!

Yes, Ron, that is exactly where they got that from.
